Life on our wonderful planet is full of troubles and dangers. This was understood by an ancient man who, for want of a better one, began to develop his inventive abilities in himself, in order to think deeply and ingeniously in order to find an unconventional solution to his and others' problems.
The result of this was the invention, among other things, of a variety of tools - useful, not particularly necessary and completely useless. Among them were instruments capable of producing sounds suitable for the creation of musical works, in order then to form, in fact, instrumental music.
A person in general likes to produce a variety of sounds to make sure, just look at any nearby kids playing. They make sounds and listen to them with tools and without them, using these uncomplicated fluctuations of the air, wherever you get.
One of the oldest found musical instruments, whose age is forty thousand years, is a flute. It was found in the cave of Hole-Fels in the south-west of Germany. Plutarch in his works was not too lazy to mention the flutist of Ismenia. And five centuries before him, the notorious Plato pointed to the extraordinary love of the ancient Greeks for instrumental music. And, he noticed, the townspeople preferred instrumental music played on stringed instruments, such as lyre and cithara, and outside the city walls, for some reason the wind instruments, flutes and others were better.
Over time, when the unique inventive ability of a man reached even before the invention of methods for recording musical sounds, the musical material began to accumulate very quickly. Therefore, we had to divide it into genres to somehow navigate. It turned out to be convenient to single out in a separate genre music performed exclusively on musical instruments, without attracting a human voice, no matter how remarkable it may be.
In the Middle Ages, instrumental music, as evidenced by the sources that have come down to us, continues to delight the hearing of all the suffering to join this inexhaustible source of dreams. So in one of the churches in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, according to the recollections of the Teutonic Order's ambassador, "pipes, oboes, tambourines and huge cauldrons produced such mighty sounds that they seemed more military than church music." However, he nevertheless noted the extraordinary "harmony and musicality" in these gentle and gradually subsiding sounds.
Traditionally instrumental music is divided into:
- piano cycles,
- clavier concerts,
- organ concerts.
Sometimes they emphasize dance instrumental music, which, in turn, is divided into many subgenres.
Also appeared long ago:
- instrumental rock
- Instrumental easy pop music
- Instrumental electronic music
Artistic and documentary cinema is another separate large section of instrumental music.
At present, this seemingly irreversible process of the formation of new genres, sub-genres, styles and directions in instrumental music goes forward with ever-increasing speed. For instrumental music is very fond of listeners and performers. Musical albums of a considerable number of collectives contain compositions that come straight to this cute genre. Often the most popular songs are recorded without vocals as a bonus track. And in special cases, even the whole album can be released in two versions, apparently with the aim of further increasing its value.
